THIS, IMO, was always *the* song which should've made its way onto a first-run album instead of being an "afterthought" on a compilation.
If(?): they'd just put this on ABBEY ROAD and, had jettisoned that dirge "She's So Heavy"...THAT would've made it (for me, anyway) a 9/10 album (I've never minded the whimsy of "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", but I absolutely hate the embarrassing stupidity of the rehashed-Yellow Submarine-like idea of "Octopus' Garden" and the way it sounds like it came from a Sesame Street skit!).
George's two-part, lead guitar counterpoint melody during the bridge is an outstanding contribution.
