THE ORIGINAL ALBUM VERSION DOES NOT HAVE THE "SIREN SOUND EFFECT" DURING THE FADEOUT (which, for some reason?: Sundazed had substituted in its place on their 1999 digital release/remaster --- the only other place I'd heard before that alternate mix was, on the fold-down of the 1969 single).
Anyway...
THIS track is (yet) another perfect example to demonstrate the schism of sound reproduction capability which existed between the two, major analog formats of the '50s/'60s/'70s:
It is the last track on the end of side 1 to this album (The Buckinghams': "In One Ear and Gone Tomorrow"; released September, 1968). Now, if you were ever so inclined to seek out a copy of the original Columbia "360-Sound" red label vinyl counterpart...THE AUDIO QUALITY OF THIS TRACK WOULD BE NOTHING BUT A COMPRESSED, "PINCHED"-SOUNDING, SLUDGY MESS (BY CONTRAST TO THIS FILE TAKEN FROM THE *TAPE*).
WHY(?): because, for what vinyl's technical limitations are, the record and stylus interface CANNOT deal with AMPLITUDE/DYNAMIC FREQUENCY EXTREMES/and STEREO SEPARATION PLAYBACK *ALL AT ONCE* (which becomes more audibly exacerbated the closer the stylus tracks toward the center --- where: the frequency range can degrade all the way down to by 9000Hz max after 18-minutes). THAT IS JUST WHAT THE "SOUND" OF VINYL IS SADDLED BY; ON EITHER: A $100 CROSLEY OR A $75,000 ROCKPORT TECHNOLOGIES' 'TABLE (FEATURING: A COBRA CONTINUUM ARM AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE UNIT BEING MOUNTED ON A "SHOCK PROOF 125-lb. BASE ISOLATED BY AIR"). People 60 years'-ago knew that and, anyone today that isn't
some criminal dipshit Amazon "influencer" *STILL KNOWS IT...AND HEARS IT*.

ONE OF THEM (HOFFMAN'S OWN WEBMASTER, NO LESS!)
